Adding to the ever-growing list of PS3 SKU’s on the market, Sony has announced a new 80GB PS3 bundle at their Destination Playstation event. The new model will also come with Metal Gear Solid 4 and one DualShock 3 controller, all for $499.

No details were given on the state of PS2 backwards compatibility for this model, but I’m sure we’ll find out more as we near the bundle’s June release.

Konami has finally answered the prayers of millions of gamers across the world — the fourth and final entry in the Metal Gear Solid franchise, MGS4, will be seeing a simultaneous worldwide release on June 12th this year!

Now for the obvious question: can it possibly live up to the hype? We’ll find out this June.

Another lackluster week for the PSN I’m afraid to say. When the highlight of the update is a new playable character in PAIN, you know something’s amiss. Oh and there’s the new Nine Inch Nails songs that we told you were coming early.

Well, do you!? You aren’t alone. There’s a new petition on the internet containing more than 15,000 signatures (so far), clamoring for Ubisoft to bring the game to the PSP.

Now is the time to fulfill your duty as a gamer and sign this petition. Even if you don’t necessarily care if the game makes it onto the PSP or not, there are a bunch of other gamers who need your help!

As us Americans will be receiving a new MGS4 bundle in June, it seems fitting that the Europeans should also get a new bundle. They won’t be getting MGS4, though. Instead, they will be seeing a GT5 bundle and a Blu-ray bundle.

The Gran Turismo 5: Prologue PS3 bundle will retail for €399, and come with a copy of the game. This bundle will include the 40GB version of the PS3 and come with one Sixaxis controller (why no DualShock 3, Sony?).

The equally-priced Blu-ray bundle will also come with a 40GB PS3 and one Sixaxis controller. In addition, it comes with 3 Blu-ray movies: Casino Royale, Spider-man 3 and 300.

Both of these bundles seem to be good deals, although the 40GB PS3 lacks PS2 backwards compatibility and a few USB ports and those Sixaxis controllers will soon be replaced by the rumble-capable DualShock 3.

I’m not sure what to make of this boxart — it’s cool, yeah, but it seems somewhat bland when compared to previous MGS games.

Zero Punctuation’s Yahtzee tackles Uncharted this week and guess what? He hates it, although he hates most everything so don’t take it personally. The video is as hilarious as it is completely not safe for work (NSFW) so I’ve embedded it after the break. Here’s a sample:

I already thought Home would be cool, but these new details really seal the deal. Sony has revealed plans for Home integration for 3 of its exclusive games: Uncharted, Warhawk and Resistance 2.

Let’s start with Uncharted: Visiting the Uncharted gamespace will allow gamers to explore the levels of Uncharted as their Home personas — without being shot at, of course. In addition, there will be a side-scrolling Uncharted-themed 2D shoot ‘em up that will be “reminiscent of both Contra and Out Of This World”. Awesome.

Now onto Resistance: players will be able to “Visit unseen areas of the game and tap into bonus content in the form of “intercepted” radio communications between European and U.S. forces.” According to Kotaku, the radio transmissions will add to the story of Resistance 2. Also, like Uncharted, you will be able to explore the levels of R2 without Chimerans trying to kill you.

And lastly, Warhawk: “According to our sources, the Home lobby for the Incognito dogfighter will serve as a “war room” where up to eight players can meet to discuss their strategy for an upcoming match.” The ability to launch a game straight from Home is also confirmed by Kotaku.

I love these ideas. Sony is truly leading the way for 3rd party developers by showing them what Home is capable of — can’t wait to see what’s coming next!
